Huntsville Young Professionals will be volunteering for Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, March 3rd. Due to logistics, Habitat can only accommodate about 15 volunteers. To RSVP, contact Clinton Orr (ORRC2@nationwide.com) by February 17th.
We will meet at 8:00am at the Ha...bitat officer located on the corner of Pratt and Washington. The entrance to the office faces Washington St. We will sign waivers, have some safety reminders, and view a nine minute documentary about Habitat’s local affiliate. Based on where you will be working we will then send you to the build location.
Habitat does not encourage the use of personal tools, but you may bring them if you want to. Please make sure they are labeled, and please no tools that have been “modified”. No nail guns. Everyone should wear sturdy shoes (tennis shoes are fine but no flip flops or sandals). Wear old clothes; they will get dirty and may become paint covered. Dress in layers since you may be working outside or in a home with no heat or air conditioning. You are encouraged to bring your own work/garden gloves.
The work day will last until 12:30pm unless the group chooses to stay later. Habitat does not provide lunch but will take a break to allow for those who want to go get lunch. The day usually ends by around 3:00pm.
Most importantly, from the moment you arrive remember to smile, laugh, have fun and be blessed!
